all rear lights out on 99 GC Laredo
A friendly motorist let me know, and I verified, both running and brake lights are out on my back side. My hazards work, thank heaven, but other than that I have a dark rear end. I checked fuses 6,7 & 8, and all good. Any advice would be appreciated. Bulbs worked 2 nights ago.
Thanks!
Thanks!

battery cranking 850 amps, tested 2 weeks ago, and which grounds would only affect tail and brake lights?
Perhaps by voltage you mean something else. If so please advise.

You would be checking the voltage and the grounds on your tail light bulbs. I'm leaning more towards this being a grounding issue but it never hurts just to check.

Would both sides be affected at the same time from the same ground or both sides fail on same day? Would both tail and brake lights (4 grounds go bad) also at the same time?

I think all the grounds are tied together at one grounding point behind the passenger's side panel in the cargo area.

I fixed my brake lights by doing this....
I took the assembly out when I got home and the single contact across from the two contacts on the brake socket was melted/ sunken into the plastic. I used a small screwdriver to carefully lift it up then I put some folded aluminum foil under it then re-installed the socket carefully. The first time I checked the brake lights I heard a small pop and nothing worked. I got under the drivers side floorboard and checked the fuse box there and I found the 20A fuse for the brake switch had popped. I replaced it with the spare that was on the fuse box cover and then checked them again and they worked with both the headlights on and off ! I drove around town and ran a few errands and at each stop I checked them and they worked. I'm so happy to have fixed it for basically free other than my time.
