I have the same issue, my evap core is leaking. I want to attempt to run some leak sealer through it to get it to work at all. I know the odds aren't great, but I don't want to get into the replacement of the core just yet, if at all lol. I've heard of running a jumper wire to the compressor, but I'm not sure of the recommended procedure. Is a 12 gauge wire from the + side of the battery to the compressor right, or do you just make a "U" out of it and plug each end into the compressor somewhere?

well you could spend 20$ for 134a or 200 or more for a new compressor up to you

After checking the forum, which I know I should have done first BTW, I jumpered the low pressure switch, and it kicked on. Now for part two of the program, dumping stuff in the system.
