I am thinking of adding a trailer hitch to my 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited. It did not come with the tow package. It only has the luxury group II. Can this be done? If so, will it affect the towing capacity because it does not include to whole tow package?

You're going a bit beyond my knowledge, but up until 2004, the tow package included a trailer hitch, lighting package, and an auxiliary trans cooler. The trans cooler is important because you'll be producing a lot more heat from the torque converter while towing. The lighting package converts the 6 light circuit to the 4 light trailer wiring.

U-haul will put a trailer hitch on just about ANY vehicle. I checked about my WJ because I needed a rear recovery point and fuel tank protection. For just the hitch without lighting package it was priced at $185 for a class 3 hitch, installed.

 

You can definitely get an after market hitch, however there is the possibility it might void your warranty. I would check with your dealership first or see if they can install the hitch there so it doesn't void your warranty.
