99 grand cherokee will start wont stay running

i have a 99 grand cherokee limited - just replaced the battery and the jeep will start but will only stay running if i constantly give it gas.

any help?

Try cycling the security system, that is lock it and unlock it with the key fob. That may cure your problem. This resets the immobilizer.

Actually try holding down the gas pedal for about a min. You don't need to race the engine just enough to keep it running. The computer needs to relearn the TPS parameters, and it will stay running.
