99 GC remote fob will not program

Latest and greatest ....
after much searching, a smattering of colorful language, some judicious hair-pulling ... the solution is ......
The BCM.
As it turns out, my BCM was failing to properly communicate with some of the various modules it talks to .... the RKE receiver being one of them. So, while the remote itself and the RKE receiver(s) where all functioning properly, the BCM was not 'hearing' the reciever, and therefore would not respond to the remote.
The DCM tool was talking to the BCM properly, but the BCM was not reporting any errors other than the 'remote failed to program" one.
I found a used BCM for $75, installed it, made the trip to the locksmith...everything works properly now. Including the key in the door deactivating the alarm as it should.
