I have looked and looked and looked and have found mixed opinions. one person says yes it goes right in. someone else says no wont work at all. another person says it might take some loving to go in..... Does anyone have any solid information? i cant seem to find anything and I am in quite a pickle and found a great deal on a 99 42re and need a trans for my 98 zj and this is about all i have after my so called buddy shafted me on rebuilding my trans

Go aw4, there is a guy on naxja I believe showing how to convert from that ghastly tranny to our tried and true aw4 lol
really? I will try and look if its simple i can find them dime a dozen i just really dont have the time or patience to screw with that right now man i had my jeep down for 6 months got a new trans in it and 2 days she **** the bed again (kinda.... well all my fault) and that was back in november so i am going on a little over a year on my jeep being down and I just want her back on the road

yea i figured itd be a decent change in the transmission but was worth a look. I will call but I was hoping to find someone that has done this before and that could say yes it works before I go and drop the cash on it and find out its bad news bears for me
if I am wrong the way its looking is the TCM and trans is what needs pulled. essentially if I can find a 98 XJ in the junkyard with a 4.0 which im pretty sure i know right where one is i could get everything from the junkyard yea?
seems like the most pain thing will be the few wires.... hopefully the 99 42re would be an easier swap but if things get to much of a pain i will either say to hell with it and find myself a aw4 from the yard and yank everything.... or maybe get froggy and do a ax15 swap
