If I want to remove a busted up rusted away catalytic converter for offroad use only. Can this be done? It has an o2 sensor on it so I assume this will trigger a check engine code. The cat is falling apart and making allot of noise. or is there a super cheap high flow cat available that will fit in without welding it into place that will accept the sensor?
Thanks

I replaced the cat on my '97 with a cheapy cat from NAPA, just clamped it on, and screwed a new sensor into the port provided. I had a Cherrybomb behind it for a while and no tailpipe. I DID put a turned-down tip on it though. I think they told me the cat was for a 4.0 Chevy S10. No, wait. That one didn't have the sensor port. I really don't think the downstream sensor will set a CEL on the older systems anyway.
