hi everyone was wondering if anyone could help..
my 97 4.0 will turn over but it wont start i have to pump the gas to get it going and once you take your foot off the throttle (in park) it stalls.. it only does this in the winter time randomly.. the lines arnt frozen and the fuel pump works fine ... brand new distributor, wires, spark spugs, battery, starter.. in warmer weather it takes about 3 seconds to fire up when you turn the ignition but runs smooth idel .. could it be the TPS or another sensor?

I think you're on the right track looking at the TPS. You might also look at the IAC valve. As you have fuel injection, "pumping" the gas pedal doesn't squirt any gas into the engine like a carb would. You're only changing the position of the TPS and flapping the butterfly valve. Give the IAC pintle a good cleaning, and don't forget the seat the pintle sits in. *Don't twist on the pintle while cleaning it, they can be damaged that way*

Check/replace the IAC (idle air control) valve.
