Default 96 ZJ VIC acting funny

Hi everyone. New day, new electrical problem. My VIC suddenly started to act funny, in one moment the normal display was gone, and you can see on the picture what appeared. I'm thinking that this is a secret alien message, but maybe I'm wrong and it's a simple electrical failure. Anybody has ever seen something similar, anything I could try before applying the good old right hand-left shoulder technique and buy a spare one on Ebay? Any input would be useful. Thanks in advance.

What is this right hand-left shoulder technique you speak of? LOL!

It must be an alien message because I've never seen that display before! Obviously either the body control module or the display itself is corrupted. I would suspect the display.

Pull it and try to find the storage cubby that jeep offered from1993 -1995's. More storage and no more vic problems. Mine caught on fire and I replaced it with a cubby I found at the scrapyard for 5 bucks.

Now there's the best answer I've heard yet! LMAO!! My wife's Dodge Caravan had a cubby that was big enough to hold a box of boutique facial tissues. She loved that! It was like it was made for that purpose.

It's a very special technique, you grab the faulty part with your right hand, and above your left shoulder threw it into the trash can. It always works...

I really wouldn't like to do that, because I like much the 96 high tech charm of it.

I know they are about worthless anymore. That's why I like the cubby I can put my cell phone in it while I drive plus the space is filled up till I get another idea for it.

I miss the day/date function from my ZJ. My WJ doesn't have that. The WJ has the compass and air temp function I like very much, plus you can program it in 5 languages! It's an overhead console.

Just to close this thread. Today I got the answer for the question, should I change it. Mine also started to smoke, I was afraid it will put the whole vehicle on fire . Disassembled it you can see the result on the picture, the pcb started to burn at the voltage stabilizers leg. So I definitely need a new one.

Looks like mine did only mine burned more. Good luck finding a new VIC or whatever you decide to do.
