Engine: 5.2l v8
96 grand cherokee laredo smoke at start up
i get smoke at startup and afterward ? just started doing this no leaks of anykind put 1 new fan clutch stays at 180 190 and used ac compressor noise gone but smoke gets me worried i'm thinking i might have to rip the heads off ? truck is at 228909

Take your valve cover off and clean out the oil drains. You're holding too much oil up there and after you shut it down, that oil drains thru the valve guides into the cylinders and burns off when you start it. People will tell you your valve seals are bad but even good ones will leak when submerged in oil. Yours are probably not in the best of shape, but you can end the smoke just by making sure the drains are open.
You didn't say whether this is a V engine (V6 or V8) or not. These are prone to this problem. Chevy small blocks are noted for this because the drains are small. Check it out. You may find it's full of sludge.
