96 GC intermittent stall & erratic transmission shifting
Hello all,
I have a 96 GC 4.0 that intermittently stalls regardless of conditions and intermittently has erratic shifting. Seems like the previous owners gave up due to all the components I see that have been replaced. Considering the previous owners replaced the ckp sensor and fuel filter I went for what I read through these forums as a major culprit the PCM. Still having the same issues. Removed the fuse box to check for corroded wiring found nothing. Swapped the asd relay with the windshield wiper relay along with cleaning battery posts and battery. Seems to be fine for now but I know the issue is going to come back. Please help!!!!

Old fart with a wrench
Try pulling the ASD relay, polishing the blades, spray the socket with electrical cleaner, and install/remove the relay several times. You could clean the socket with a thin nail file, but be careful not the stretch the contacts. Do the same with the ckp connector. Remember, in 21 years, all kinds of crap may have gotten into the wiring connections.
