'95 Cherokee transmission problem

'95 Cherokee transmission problem
My transmission in my 95 grand cherokee laredo is not shifting gears on its own. I have to manually switch from first, to 2nd to 3rd (OD). And it will not engage overdrive so there are only 3 gears (as far as i know). I have heard that this is the shift and governor solenoids, but im not sure. anyone have any ideas?
