Is it still at the gas stating or did you get it home? I would start with the basics. Do you have spark and fuel. hopefully someone chimes in with an answer to that brake light thing

Could be you got a load of contaminated fuel (water) or stirred up crap in the bottom of the tank. My guess is water. You'll have to get a sample from the pressure test port on the fuel injector rail and see if it has water in it. If it does, don't buy gas from that guy again! It's impossible to prove it was his gas, so don't bother trying.
If it's water, there is a lot of work ahead of you. The tank has to be removed and cleaned, the filter changed, the lines and fuel rail need to be blown out, and the injectors cleaned. Oh, forgot the pump.
On some of today's cars, if you run the tank dry, you have to prime the system.
I would assume it's got to be fuel related because it ran fine until you put gas in it.

Usually the sign of a failed fuel pump. The pump was hot when you pulled into the station and the filled the tank with cool gas. The change in temperature could have caused the pump to seize. Try banging on the tank with a rubber mallet and the see if the engine starts.

Okay Busted. You got me there. What you say is quite possible. When the fuel level is low, the pump motor is exposed ie; running in air. I just didn't think of that.
Around here we've had a lot of incidences of budget stations buying the bottom of holding tanks, thus water in the fuel. I just assumed that was the case here.
