94 GC 4wd Rpms Drop???
I just replaced the distributor cap and the cat to solve a bad sputtering and backfiring. Now while accelerating from a stop the rpms drop from about 700 (idle) to 0 for a sec long enough to stutter then jumps up and runs just fine until I have to excelerate from a stop again. Maybe crankshaft positioning sensor?

Engine: 4.0 with all of the noise and clatter
Cycle the key on, off, on, off, on, the count the flashes of the check engine light. Long flashes are the first number and short flashes are the second number. Like a code 41 would be four long flashes and one short flash.

Old fart with a wrench
You can take it to Autozone or some other shop and have them clear to codes with a scanner.
