94 cherokee loses OD and 1st gear
My 94 gc with 247k miles seems to lose OD and 1st gear when I exceed 45mph aprox. When I reach stoplight I will restart motor and everything is fine until I exceed 45mph. I replaces the transmission speed sensor on the transmission but still same thing. I'm going to replace the throttle position sensor next. Any ideas guys? So far I read it could be either of the 2 before mentioned parts as well as governor solenoid, tcu, but I'm starting with the cheapest parts first. Please help

Which engine / transmission?
Have the fluid pressures been measured per the FSM? Have the intact-transmission FSM tests been performed? Has the pan been dropped, what is the fluid condition / contamination level?

My FSM points to the governor circuit malfunction or linkage adjustment. Check the trans codes with a DRB II scan tool.

Yes, my trans manual says "converter clutch solenoid output." 45 mph is about when the converter goes into lock-up.

Trans code 42re; TCC Solenoid w/Harness; Transmission Control Solenoid; $74.79
That's if you have the 4.0. That's what I looked up.

Figured it out guys!!!! Broken spring in the 3 4 accumulator piston. Went to pull n save and every 42 and 44re transmission I opened had broken spring. Seems like a common problem?? I cant believe im only obe with this situation? Thanks for all your help

That's easy enough to check rather than junking the jeep because of a bad transmission. Good catch! Something to remember.
BTW, TCC = torque converter clutch.
