5.2 vs 5.9?
been looking around for possibly a new rig and the ZJ V8 is looking like the one. My question(s) is/are is the 5.9 really that much a better option than the 5.2? I realize that it is definetly more expensive and more rare, but is the difference that noticeable?
I've read alot of stuff that the 5.9 has its issues from overheating, bad mileage, predetination issues, etc. I like the extra power of the 5.9, but don't like the possibility of having to run premium gas. I know you can have the computer reflashed to run regular and lose some performance from the 5.9...but is the reported 13 mpg with the AWD? I was gonna swap the outputshaft and do the 231 2wd capable swap with either one. Anyone done that with a 5.9 and can report better mileage than when it was AWD? ( only makes sense that it would by not lugging around the frontend all the time...just nobody talkin about it)
Is the 5.2 power comprable to the stepdown in power you get if you don't run premium gas in the 5.9 and reflash the computer to run regular octane? Any other issues that would make the 5.2 a better choice other than mileage, availability and price?
Any input and feedback would be great. Thanks in advance.

I've also got the 5.2 and love it. If you're going to try and de-tune the 5.9 you'll lose any benefits of getting it in the first place. Just get a 5.2 and enjoy it.

with all of the bolt on goodies, you can have a 5.2 pumping out more numbers than a stock 5.9. However, you could just grab yourself a WJ with a 4.7 and be way ahead of the game:-)
