I've recently purchased a xj for dirt cheap, and only needed a $15 part to make it street legal(stock). It's an '84 with a 2.8l with the 3spd automatic, but my transfer case only goes into 4 high, and the shifter just kinda flops around and it's connected on both ends. Any answers?

 

Crawl under it and check the linkage to the transfercase.
