4.7 High Idle at startup

4.7 High Idle at startup
My 1999 WJ 4.7 on startup will jump up to 1800-2000 rpm for a couple of seconds then settle down to 900-1000. It does it on every startup cold or hot. Is that normal?

Ya, on mine it does it cold or warm. When cold it kinda bothers me because it goes up to close to 2000 rpm which is not good for a cold engine. I guess it just normal for these engines.
