A Teraflex 2" lift should be enough to make the 31s fit. Less than $150 and super easy to install.

I am thinking of following you on that decision and trading my XJ in on a ZJ.... I have been looking at them for a long time... so this is kind of nice to know what size tires I can fit with next to no money spent... at least for right now until I can afford a larger lift/tires...

got 31s on my 94 grand limited. They rub full lock to lock, I also smashed the pinch weld down so they don't get cut. Rub on the lcas. No lift, v8

Get a lift then your problem will be solved... It simply shows that 31s doesn't fit well...

Not to burst your bubble but its full time 4x4 not AWD. You have a t-case that allows selection of 4lo!

Actually only at full lock turning. Can be fixed by turning out the stops for the steering! Shaved the front bumper and pounded in the pinch seam. I was on a mission to prove to myself that I could run my 34s with ~4 of lift! I'm sure if I got it into situations where I had to flex it out it would rub more. Sadly the trails here in MN aren't that technical. More mud than anything! On the other hand that's what bump stops are for!

I have a 3 inch lift and 31's. When I got the jeep it had 32's and they rubbed like crazy. I got a good set of 31's for $100 bucks of craiglist and took those stupid plastic bumpers off. Just by taking the bumpers off you can clear larger tires much easier. I eventually plan on putting some steel bumper but I was very surprised on how much clearence you can get from just revmoving the stock bumper, they're not much of a bumper anyway....
