249j output yoke swap/torque
My 98s 249 has a bad vc and uses the cv shaft. I have gotten a good 249 given to me that uses a ujoint style ds. I'm planning to swap to a ujoint shaft in the future but because of time and money issues atm would like to use my cv style one since its still good. What goes into swapping the front yoke out for mine on the good tcase? Do I have to get it just right like the yoke on the diff as far as preload etc or can i just torque it to xxxlbs and be good?

Just torque it to the specified torque. There is no bearing preload since it just clamps the gear and flange to both sides of a single bearing.
Sweet thanks for the info. Although I think i may have been mistaken in thinking it was different at the case front yoke side. After looking at replacement cv driveshafts it looks like its double jointed on the case end cv at the axle. Once the sun is up enough to see Ill go double check
