2014 WK2 Service Airbag System Warning HELP
I have a 2014 WK2 Grand Cherokee Limited. For the past few days, when I start it, the 'Service Airbag System' warning message comes on the TFT display with a single chime (NOT the SRS warning light, but comes up in the EVIC display on the TFT), and then goes away once you get up to speed. I'm wondering if this is a problem that other post-facelift (2014+) WK2 Grand Cherokee owners are experiencing, and if you got the issue resolved, what turned out to be the issue? The Jeep has 71k miles on it and I've owned it about a year.
Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks for your response. I will be taking my Grand in for an oil change next week, and will get them to check it out then. Not expecting any problems, as I love my dealership. But will reach out to you via PM if anything goes wrong.
Thanks!

Just an update here... went in for an oil change on the 4th. Dealer scanned the computer module and found that the code was stored, and it was coming from the left front seat... we do have aftermarket (but special-ordered and form-fitted) seat covers in the front due to that we are in and out of the vehicle a lot and want to protect our leather seats. We checked the Velcro straps of the seat covers and make sure they weren't in the way of any wiring harnesses as the dealer suggested... code hasn't come back since. (Knock on wood).

2015 Cherokee Airbag Warning Light
My daughter has a 2015 Cherokee with "Service Airbag Warning" also. She took it to Jeep and paid for a diagnosis. They wrote "b0028-13 right seat deployment open,b0025-13 passenger seat position circuit open, found dtc b0028-13 checked wires and connectors , everything ok at this time. found tsb 10-002-17, recommend to replace jumper wire for seat harness, customer declined repair at this time". She was quoted a price of $2,611.28 to fix this issue. TSB 10-002-17 states 2.0 hours of repair time and parts totaling $2,261.28. It requires 2 wiring harnesses for the internal seat at $1,037.07 each (part number 68395046-AA.
Does anyone know if this affects the entire airbag system or only the seats. Also recommendation on next steps would be helpful, car has 53K and is out of warranty.
Thanks in advance!

Here's the thing, you need a professional shop level scanner with equivalent OEM software to have bi-directional diagnostic capability to the body modules in order to find, fix and then permanently clear the stored codes and they are very costly to purchase.
However, for what you were quoted if you want to spend the time to find and fix the problem you could own that level of tech from Autel or Snap-On with the right software to do the job and there's plenty of cheap harness parts in salvage yards.

Roger,
What did you end up doing to address your issue? I have a '15 Cherokee and have the same light and also 'fasten driver seat belt' even though seat belt is buckled. Obviously, I have no interest in paying that kind of money to the dealership for a repair so looking for an alternative. Thanks.
