Hey Guys,

I just got a 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 and I have 2 noises I'm concerned about.

1. when I pass about 35mph there is an audible ticking from under the drivers dash. Sometimes it clicks 3 or 4 times, sometimes 10 or more. After a minute or two of driving it goes away.
2. in sand when the front tires spin out there is a fairly loud grinding/buzzing from the driver side front wheel area. The service center said this is the ABS system and it is normal. I don't know, but it doesn't sound good.

I have a 2012 too and have not heard those kind of noises. I would have to say noise #2 is probably normal and the service center is probably correct stating that its the ABS/traction control reacting to wheel slippage. Right now I am not sure which positions do what but pretty sure a couple of the 4wd/awd selections cancel the trac control or you can manually turn it off and see what happens. You might still notice it though if its the AWD part of the transfer case trying to transfer torque due to wheel spin. Only other thing you might be able to due to see if it goes away is shifting it to low range.
