5.9 zj good or not?
new here. and just wanted to get some info on the 98 5.9l zj. just wondering about any issues i should know about them as i am wanting to buy one in the next day or two. thanks in advance.

The only problem with any V8 Grand Cherokee is that it's really cramped under the hood. They also have issues with the viscous coupler in the transfercase. A lot of people love the 5.9, it's a very solid engine with good power.

The 5.9 Limited is a great truck with plenty of power. I'd love to have one.
You hear some folks complaining about electrical problems on their '98 ZJ's, not just with the 5.9's, but other engines too. They've also reported trans problems with V8 ZJ's. Check it out thoroughly to make sure everything works correctly.
Oh, BTW, I never had an issue with my '97 V8 ZJ as far as the engine compartment being cramped. Replacing the plugs wasn't bad at all.
