2009 Grand Cherokee Limited - head lights go out
I have a 2009 with a 5.7L V8 and recently the head lights will just quit working and then come back on in a few seconds. Obviously dangerous. Checked fuses. What should I check next?

It could be the headlamp switch? I do not think it would be the switch though. I do not believe it would cycle them on and off in such a short sequence. But, it could be..
The headlamps relay would be a more probable reason for what is happening with the headlamps randomly turning off and then back on again like is happening. The headlamp relay is #52 cavity of the engine compartment fuse box. The designers have supplied and put in a spare relay there for you to use too. The spare is located in location #53. If the spare relay is not in there, it looks like you could use the HVAC relay located in spot #49 to swap it around if it were needed. Swap the headlamp relay out with the spare and see if it fixes the problem for you.
For the year 2009 Jeep the F-2 cavity is the location for the headlamp fuse. If you keep a voltmeter handy whenever you drive the Jeep.. You can use the meter to check and see wether or not the power is being shut off to the headlamps by getting a reading there at the fuse when the lights go out next time.
It could be a bad headlamp bulb causing the issue? Maybe one of the contact points somewhere of one of the connections leading up to the headlamp(s)? Or, a faulty wire with excess resistance? If the bulb, a contact, or wiring goes bad.. this circuit could likely pull excess current in order to make up the difference. Headlamps should have protective measures built into their circuitry just in case for if this type of thing were to occur. A circuit breaker would shut down the power to prevent things from blowing up or catching fire in this sort of scenario.
