Default 2008 wk door jam barrier?

When I open the front door on my 2008 wk and look in behind the hinges there is this foam? barrier that is sandwiched between the fender and the inner body. It is there to keep out wind, water, debris, etc. Well, this part is missing on my drivers side. I believe the fender on that side was replaced once and I guess the cheapos didnt replace that part. What is this part called. Ive looked and searched for a bit but come up empty. I want to replace it but dont know what to call it to look up to buy it. Whats it called?

From what I was told, the foam was an attempt by jeep to prevent wind noise from the front fender area to transition to the cabin. There also is a problem with air leakage around the door gaskets in a crosswind.

Sometimes cars are designed with nice lines in mind without thinking about airflow over that body. The early 70s Barracuda had a terrible whistling from front fender air exiting the fender/door area. That was cured by a big rubber flap to break up the airflow.

On a related note, does the plastic inner fender go under the lip of the fender, on the inside, or does it go on top of the fender lip on the outside. The "repaired" side has it on the outside and it looks bad and is practically falling off. Both sides have it on the outside once it meets with the front bumper cover. This seems wrong also. Maybe tomorrow Ill go to the grocery store parking lot and look over someones wk. Lol.

they are on the inside on my WJ. The front part is held on with plastic rivets. the rest if it just fits inside the fender lip and has large head plastic push-pins on the inner steel body.

Check with a dealer's body shop. They should be able to tell you is it's right or not.

So I went up to get beer and firewood. I come out of the store and theres a dark blue wk parked 3 spaces away. I now know what its supposed to look like. LOL. I also discovered that theres a big chunk missing from my well in the front. Its like it got caught under the tire somehow and broke a piece off. Both sides are like this. Now I have to decide whether to replace or repair them. They are cheap but the repair would most likely be free and I could use the money to do something else.

Okay, I use my WJ to deliver newspapers and constantly stick the driver's front wheel into snowbanks to get to people's mailboxes. The previous owner had put mud flaps on all 4 wheels and the first thing that happened was the front one ripped off. No big deal, I didn't like them anyway so I took the other 3 off. Then snowpack broke the rivets on the left front liner and it started dragging on the tire. My big knarley all-terrain tires grabbed it backing up and turned it under. By the time I got it home, half of it was worn away. That was 3 years ago and it's still that way. It exposes the windshield washer pumps to road crap but doesn't seem to hurt them. The horns are behind the other side liner, so that might be a problem. I refuse to climb snowbanks anymore because they broke my foglight as well. I could easily get another liner from the junkyard, but I haven't yet. You can get the rivets from the dealer pretty cheaply, but you have to know which ones to get. Some hardware stores even have ones that will work. You might find info on wkjeeps.com.

Ha, I noticed that the horn looked a bit weathered on the pass side. LOL. wkjeeps.com is an awesome site. Ive used it a lot during the few weeks Ive owned mine. Lots of info there. Ive got some flexible black plastic that I might cut and rivet into place for now.
