Hi guys,
i am struggling with my Cherokee. It just started a few days ago and start worrying me.
first, the failure codes: P0743 P0700.
i went through the forum but haven’t found anything with a similar issue.
Sometimes the car only has one gear. Sometimes is it the 3rd gear, sometimes the first gear.
When I try to push it in manual, it does only show D and won’t do anything, like not changing any gears. Did somebody has an idea or something where I can start?

If you're doing your own diagnostics/repairs then remember to keep it cheap/simple and start with smaller tasks first (such as trans fluid or verification of electrical health).

Your DTC defintions are as-follows, note that there are two transmissions referenced under the P0743 code, pick yours.

P0743 (M) Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid/ Trans Relay Circuits An open or shorted condition detected in the torque converter clutch (part throttle unlock) solenoid control circuit. Shift solenoid C electrical fault - Aisin transmission

P0743 (M) Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid/ Trans Relay Circuits An open or shorted condition detected in the torque converter part throttle unlock solenoid control circuit (3 or 4-speed auto. trans. only).

P0700 EATX Controller DTC Present This SBEC III or JTEC DTC indicates that the EATX or Aisin controller has an active fault and has illuminated the MIL via a CCD (EATX) or SCI (Aisin) message. The specific fault must be acquired from the EATX via CCD or from the Aisin via ISO-9141
