2005 3.7L leaking both oil and trans fluid HELP PLEASE!!
Please help, it leaks when the trans fluid and oil are full, they are leaking from somewhere up by the radiator
Does anyone have any suggestions on where it could be leaking from?
Anybody seen this before? The jeep has about 145k on it. It's my buddy's
Truck and I would like to help him out by fixing it for him but can't tell where
The Leak is coming from.
Thanks much!

The transmission cooling lines may be leaking at the radiator. Is it engine oil or power steering fluid? I believe the fan is hydraulic and powered by the power steering pump. If it's power steering fluid, it takes a special fluid so DO NOT use ordinary fluid.

Thanks for the responses guys, so are you saying that the a/c condensor may be leaking? I will be able to go look closer at the leak in a few days once it warms up some, the temp right now is -25F and -50F with the windchill so I am not messing with it right now.
Thanks again, any tips or advise are appreciated!

Right front oil leak could be your oil adaptor or valve cover dripping down during idle.
I think the trans cooler inlet is on the driver side which would put the outlet on the passenger side also.

Inlet and outlet are on the same side, but the tanks or end tubes crack and leak so it could be either end. Yes the trans cooler is physically part of the A/C condenser, stupid I know. That's where mine is currently leaking...
Zero, so I am going to get over to tear the grille off the jeep and start looking for
Any leaks. The problem may be because of how my buddy drives it too, he works
Out of state so it's parked in his garage for say 3 months then he may
Come home for a few weeks and when he's home, he is driving the wheels off the jeep! Nothing off road but a lot of driving city/ highway.
I believe I Have the same set up as your friend. If it's leaking from the top right of the radiator on the passenger side, check the brass fitting, it may be loose, as well, the fitting in the radiator might be bad as well.
First, top off all fluids, clean it off with some brake clean and drive. If it's coming from the same areas and still leaking, the fix could be simple and cheap or expensive.
I would go with the simple fix. Drain the radiator, drain **** is on the lower left of the radiator. Use a 1/4 piece of tubing and a bucket. If the coolant is still clean, keep it and cover it up so it doesn't get contaminated. With the upper trans cooler line, get yourself an adjustable cresent wrench and remove the line. If the brass fitting in the radiator comes out, you can try using teflon tape to fix this. Get a 1/2 in drive, and I think it's a 23 or 24 mil deep well socket and tighten down. But do not over tighten. Once you feel it snug tightly, give it a another tap to make sure but again, don't try and torque this down.
Reinstall your cooler line, but do this by hand first. It's a solid brass fitting, no o-rings, no gaskets, so the seal is created when the fitting is firmly against the adapter. Once you've hand tightened the cooler line on the adapter, get yourself a 7/8 wrench and put it on the adapter that is mounted to the radiator, and tighten the cooler line with the cresent wrench. Keep the 7/8 steady and rotate the cresent wrench. This will make sure the adapter doesn't move but tightens the cooler line.
Get this as snug as possible. Once that's all done, again, make sure your fluids are topped off, and drive again. If it's still leaking from the same area, then you have the expensive problem of your friend needing a new radiator.
Try the cheap easy method first to see if that fixes the problem, and if it doesn't let us know. I have had to replace the radiator in Jeep a few times, and if you're running the hydroboost system (cooling fan) let me know. I can tell you exactly how to remove this.

although that does not seem too bad, i am still going to fix it for him, kinda looking forward to tearing into it, sometimes i dont mind projects lol
