2003 Grand Cherokee PCM Issues
Hello!
I am working on my mothers 2003 Grand Cherokee for her as it has been acting wonky. The car had a transmission rebuild years back (but less than 5000 miles, she doesnt drive much) and has an aftermarket Viper system for remote starting.
1) Intermittent RPM surge when coasting. About 500 RPM surge.
2) "Hitching" when going about 50mph. Feels like car is being pushed.
3) Complete loss of engine power. Starts back up after coming to a stop and parking. When this happens, car must be started in Neutral. This is not common but has happened more than one time.
4) O2 Sensor error code.
5) Radio not working.
6) Intermittent stalling when turning left.
7) Randomly needs to be started in neutral.
I had her take it to a mechanic close to her for the o2 sensors and they talked her out of swapping it; they said nothing was wrong and they couldnt reproduce any of the above issues. I have since swapped card with her and I took it into my trusted mechanic. He found frayed/cut wires at the upper o2 sensor and was seeing "Short to Voltage" error codes. He fixed all that and at this time, I can no longer reproduce any of the above issues except starting in Neutral occasionally. Does this make sense for a voltage short to cause the above issues? I know that the PCM controls the car but I can't find a diagram for this model and what sensors ride the same rails back to the PCM. I've read of similar issues from shorting brake pedal switch and shorting TPS sensor but I havent come accross anything for shorting o2 sensor.

Welcome but you are in the wrong forum. This forum is for the XJ, standard Jeep Cherokee, last produced in 2001. There is a forum for your Grand Cherokee though, link below so post there and good luck!
