2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Sport Ruffling Noise
Had a high pitched fan noise coming from under the car between 1 and 2nd gear….thank to the forum I replaced the transmission mount and the noise is gone.
Now in reverse the car is making a ruffling noise. Does it when moving or with foot on the brake and car in reverse giving it gas.
Does it pretty loud when giving it a lot of gas. Like a heavier load.
Anyone point me in the right direction? Tranny fluid looks good. Smells fine. A few air bubbles in the fluid….
Cars shifts fine. Drives fine.
Just drives me crazy with new noise in reverse.

Check and make sure your tailpipe isn't rubbing on the fuel tank shield when in reverse. I had this problem with my 2000. You'll have to have someone in the driver's seat when you look at it. Also, this was right after replacing the trans mount and both motor mounts. Just the right mount was broken, but I replaced both to be sure. It may have had something to do with the engine and trans torquing with the bad mounts and twisting the exhaust system. There seem to be only 2 system hangers, one on the trans mount and the other next to the fuel tank. The rubber insulators may be bad.

Back to square one. The fan turning noise is back. Right behind the glove box it sounds like. Everyone said transmission mount on here so I went that way. I didn't fix it. So now I have the original noise plus the new noise in reverse.
Facepalm.

The heater fan is right behind the glove box. You can see it from underneath.
