That is usually a sign that its low on coolant and what you are hearing is air bubbles traveling through the heater core. If you had the cooling system open for repairs of any kind, you probably just didnt get it filled up all the way. If you havent touched the cooling system then you might start looking for a leak (if it was low).

That's a good question. I have a 98 that I've had for about a week now and have noticed the same thing. My coolant level is fine however, and no leaks. Could it be anything else or is it normal to hear what jnicewan explained?

Welcome to CF. It could be the drain for the HVAC box is plugged with debris, and condensation has collected in the housing causing a sloshing sound. Look on the pass. side of the firewall in the engine compartment for a rubber elbow facing downward. It's near the frame rail. Take a piece of wire and clean it out, and the debris and water should come out.
