Hi, new member here. My wife has a 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo with 225/75/16 tires.

We have a set of tires and wheels that are 225/75/15 from her son's Jeep that are in good shape.

Can we use these wheels on her car?

No, all 15" late model Jeep wheels are 4.5"bolt pattern. Your wheels are 5"bolt pattern.

 

what do you mean by "late model"? His jeep isn't very new either. Is there a way I can tell?

 

If they are different what about getting wheel adaptors? Is that safe or a bad idea?

 

it is safe just remember aluminum and steel have different heat cycles so they need to be torqued constantly. I would Just get a second set of wheels. You can get them for about $200 where as wheel adapters are $150

 

We need new tires cheaply. The car has 16" wheels, her sons tires are already mounted on 15" wheels.

 

also something to look into is that you may have to clearance the brake rotor a little with 15" wheels.

You can get pretty cheap tires for a 16" wheel now a days too...

 

the problem w/ the adapters is the offset. A 2000 GC has a very high offset, most wheels will stick out even without adapters. The adapters will set the wheel offset out too far.

 

Seems like we can't use those.

Any suggestion for inexpensive tires? Cheapest I've found are tirerack $78, and around $110 or so locally.
