2000 grand cherokee gas smell

Default 2000 grand cherokee gas smell

I have a 2000 grand cherokee 4.0 and when i start it up and turn on the heater i get a bad gas fume inside, but when i turn off the heater, smell go away. Please HELP.

Look for a fuel leak around the injectors and fuel rail.

Mine did this and the fuel rail had to be replaced. Not to bad price wise

It smells only when the heater is on , no smell under the hood while running.

You sure it's not coolant that you're smelling?

Press some paper towels into the carpet under the heater and see if they come up stained with coolant. That's a sure sign of a heater core leak.
