Help! My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited has problems-my rear passenger blinker/brake light, brake light bar, rear wipers and interior overhead dome lights stopped working all at once! I checked bulbs and fuses(inside panel) but they are all good or replaced with new, still no luck. Got my first ticket the other day and must have problem fixed before my court date! I sure do hate to put it in shop and drop a lot cash to have it fixed-anyone with advise?

Sounds to me like a problem with the harness connector inside the rear interior panel. You may have to have someone take the panel off and check the wiring.

Problem solved! Checked fuses again, had to replace the one for interior lights. As for the tail light/blinker, I tried the tin foil housing trick from YouTube, worked for a short while then....stopped. Replaced the middle socket on the left rear taillight(which was a little melted!)...and haven't had a problem since! O'Riellys had socket for around $10, but you can get them from EBay for about $4 each.

You can also get them from a junkyard for about $1 each, or pocket them when buying something else. heh, heh.
BTW, I think all the sockets are the same and the different functions are built into the wiring contacts. All the bulbs are the same. I once burnt out a brakelight bulb and swapped a reverse bulb until I got new ones.

Nice write up, Kenai...
I need to take mine apart one of these days.
It seems every time it rains, the red hatch light on the dash comes on...... does that switch also control the dash indicator? (idiot light)

There are micro switches in each of the hatch latches and I'm betting one of them isn't latching. Oh, wait! That's on a WJ. The Cherokee has one on the latch that's probably out of adjustment.
