1998 Grand Cherokee Tranny
I have a 1998 Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 liter and the 42re 4 speed automatic. Can I use a different year tranny or is it true that the 1998 was a single year only. I did talk with 2 local wrecking yards and both said that it was a single year. However there is a lot of posts online that say otherwise. So I thought I would ask the on here, seeing how it is a forum just for Grand Cherokee.
Thank you for you time Ether

Old fart with a wrench
I just checked on rockauto.com and 96,97,and 98 all have the same part number. I didn't check beyond that. The 99 and newer are different.
