Default 1995 orvis buying yes of no

i have been looking around for decend 4x4 for quiet a while now and came over a 1995 orvis. A little info about it:

75,000 miles
brand new gear box with warranty
changed all the oils that you can possible change
3 owners
full service book
8300 usd
has a 4.0 V6 and select drive 2wd/4wd

in first place i have been looking for lr discoverys and monteros but they dont seem to get as good mpg as the cherokee of some reason.
How is the quality on those cherokees? any major things that can go wrong at that milage? i hear some get out about 25 mpg on those which isnt bad at all for an suv of that kind.
hope you guys can help me out a bit.

here are some pics of it.

Just a FYI, that is an inline 6 not a v6.

But I would check out KBB and see what they have as far as price goes. He seems to be asking a bit much for that jeep but it is most certainly very clean. Also I wouldnt expect to get 25mpg, probably more along the lines of 19-21.

would you consider the cherokee more reliabel than the montero or discovery one ?

about the mpg, according to the seller it makes about 25 mpg can that be because of the higher octan thatwe use over here 95-98? plus we are not allowed to drive more than about 80km/h on the motorways anyways most of the times :S

I would definitly consider a Cherokee over the two you mentioned. They are more reliable and when they do break it is real easy to fix and inexpensive. For the money you are getting a lot better deal with a Jeep. I own three and would own more if the wife would let me.

I like the Jeep although I can't read a word of the description. It would seem it is described as a 2WD 4X4 but I must have lost something in the translation. If fuel is as big of a consideration there as it is here, then a comparison by MPG might be your first consideration. All have a good reputation on the trails, but Jeeps have a bigger aftermarket support IMHO.

Well to avoid any confusion it is a 4x4.

8300 usd I'm guessing your saying $8300 if so that's rather steep for a '95 I'd say that should be closer to $4000 Just my $.02

Who knows that the market's like where he is, though. It's 55,000 in his denomination, and $8300 to us. That might be fair

Personally, I would put Jeep ahead of any other 4x4. If you have concerns other than driveability and off-road performance, then you may need to weigh your options a little more.
