Default 1995 Cherokee Country 4x4 TC question...

I have a 1995 Cherokee Country 4x4 that i just purchased. Being my first jeep ever i have no idea on what parts are interchangeable. I purchased this Jeep with the front drive line disconnected because the owner prior said that the Transfer Case was blown out due to the Rear-end getting swapped out. I havent been able to get the front and rear gear ratios checked but i have had the TC looked at and it is definetely out. I have a NP231 TC in it and i have found a NP242 for sale. Will the 242 work or do i have to stay with a 231? any help would be great. and if the 242 will work what do i need to be able to put that in?

As long as the input shaft length and spline count are the same it should swap right in. You will want to change the gear selector indicator though because you'll now have 2wd, 4hi, 4hi parttime and 4lo.
