Cool 1994 factory alarm issue

I am trying to find some help for my sister in law. She has a '94 Grand Cherokee Laredo that the factory alarm system is acting up. It goes off whenever it feels like it and sometimes it cannot even be turned off, thus killing the battery and making the vehicle undriveable. Is there a way to bypass this system or has the aftermarket come up with a way to "fix" this type of problem?
Thanks,
Brad

I think to tur it off. put key in drivers side door and turn it 3 time back and forth. I think maybe it was 6. nick and ii knows alot more about this. I think he knows how to even disable it. Ill see if I can find the thread for ya.

I don't know if they did the same thing on the GC's as my '92 XJ, but if the alarm goes off, I have to open the hatch to disarm it...

I had the same problem and the key trick wouldn't fix it.

I ended up having to disable the entire unit. I lost my remote unlock feature also, but it stopped draining the battery or going off as my wife was driving down the street.

Had a 87 blazer that did that. Only when it went off it said HELP HELP I AM BEING ATTACKED. Kinda funny so we left it for awhile then got annoying.
