Default 07 Cherokee problems

I have an 07 Grand Cherokee and once in a while, just after starting it and leaving the driveway the PRND all become circled in the display and the car stops accelerating. After a few seconds the car starts going again. Its been suggested that it may be the ATF fluid. Does anyone have any insight?

is it under warranty?

I would say check the level first, but i think those trans came without a dipstick so you have to go to the dealer to have them use their "special tool" aka dipstick to check the level

Sounds like an ESM (electronic shift module) problem. its probably shorted inturnaly. fluid level will not make the PRNDL lights all light up, these ESM's seem to be a common problem with the WK's.

Take it to your jeep dealer, it should have the warranty because they seem to be pretty long lasting, i have 07 wrangler rubicon and the transmission started acting up by popping out of gear after i let a friend borrow it for two days and the jeep had 36,000 miles on it when it was serviced, now it has 39,000 miles and still going strong although i wish it had more power, i liked the inline 6 engines better...

We did end up taking it to the dealer. We were a few thousand miles over the warranty, but it only cost $150 to get the problem taken care of. They knew what it was right away, so apparently its fairly common for these cars.
