Default 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Problem Help!

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 4.7 V8

Today a friend and I were putting in our jetskis at our beach club and when we pulled out, it was low tied. Long story short, my buddy got stuck in the sand, we attached a chain to my trailer ball and the from of his truck and pulled him out. I used 4x4 low and went slow to do it.

When driving home I get this crazy grinding, humming, noise that happens with I put my foot on the accelerator it only happens when in gear, not in neutral.

If I tap the peddel it makes the noise and then goes away, its like it does it with the accelerator almost like a fan or something. It happens at all speeds, doesnt get louder or quieter, its really not that loud.

I did try and go in and out of 4x4 just to make sure it wasnt stuck, I dont hear anything when I go in and our of 4x4 low... I wonder if its stuck?

Anyone have any ideas, Im at a loss here.

well your going to get dirty again because you have to have the jeep on somewhat level ground get under neath and there is a plug on the back of the transfer case that you have to take off the fluid level should be to where there's fluid coming out when you take the plug of if the fluid does not come out you can stick you finger in the hole and find out how low it really is check with the auto part to make sure but the flud should be ATF+4.

Ok I'm convinced I'm stuck in 4 wheel low. I've tried the forward and back multiple times, I've tried engaging and disengaging the 4 wheel low, fluids are fine...don't know what to do? Any other tricks on breaking it free?

Welcome to CF.
Concerning checking the fluid level in your transfer case, this is for the SRT8 but yours should be similar. > http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_axle_tcase_maintenance.htm

Brought it into Jeep this morning, the tech said it was the front differential. They dont know if its just bearings or everything...

He said $900-$2200 depending on that it is! WTF does that sound right?

Also I have an 05 with 48k miles. He said the 7yr 70k power train doesnt transfer because Im the 2nd owner. is that B/S or what!

That sounds about right for dealer pricing.
I thought the warranty was transferable?

I have had it where my jeep was stuck in 4 lo, I could not get it out, no matter what I did. But I fainly got it out, by taking it back off road. Take it somewhere with no traction. Where the tires can slip a little. The see if you can get out.
