Default 04 WJ ignition switch replacement

Hi guys on my 04 WJ I noticed every my once in a while when I start it up my radio won't come on till about 10 seconds later. It's an aftermarket radio had it professionally installed awhile ago but my question is can the electrical Ignition switch itself be the culprit? And if I replace it do I have to get the key reprogrammed? Thank you.

Don't know how if you need the reprogram, but the switch could be the culprit. Sorry, but I'm not sure. Never encountered this problem!

No need for reprogramming if only the switch is replaced. The SKIM module has to be removed first, then the switch. Make sure the key is in OFF and the trans in PARK. DO NOT MOVE THE KEY while changing the switch. If the switch won't snap in, you may have to move the key SLIGHTLY it get it to align. After everything is back together, check that the steering wheel locks and the shifter won't move until the brake is depressed.

Go to pacificcoastmanuals.com and download the FSM for your vehicle for $7.99+tax. The best investment you'll ever make.
