Default 04 Jeep Grd Cherokee keeps OVERHEATING!

I have a 2004 JGC limited that keeps on over heating! I've recently replaced the thermostat and radiator...both about 4 months old. I recently took it to my mechanic because there was a spark plug misfire. Once I drove away it started over heating! It overheats when I'm on idle but when I'm on the freeway it coolsdown. Advice? Thanks.

Did you burp the system when you put the new radiator and T-stat in?

Default Check weep hole on water pump?

I purchased a Jeep Cherokke Sport from my neighbor because it kept overheating on him and he thought it was the head gasket and did not want to invest the money or time into it. I discovered it was the water pump going out. When the Jeep was running you could not see any leaking coolant but when you stopped the weep hole would dribble water out of it and eventually there would be too little to cool the engine correctly.

You know what...when the mechanic changed the radiator I had a feeling that he didn't bleed (burp) the system. I would hear bubbles in my coolant container.

When I open the radiator cap Air bubbles would come up in my coolant container compartment thingy.

Burp the system and then see how it works. Just run it with the cap off until all the bubbles are gone.

I JUST FIXED THE PROBLEM!!

There was ALOT of air in my radiator. I came to find out that the mechanic that changed my radiator DID NOT bleed it! I took it to a friend and he bled it and I also changed the radiator cap. No more overheating!! woohooo!

Total cost for repair...$5 radiator cap...& 10 tacos!!

Thanks for ur help!
