04 grand Cherokee 4x4

Wife was using the jeep with kids in it (not off road). I decided to go use the 4x4 and 4x4 shifter just slides right down to low with no engaging of 4x4 part , 4x4 hi or 4x4 low anyone can help???

Crawl under it and find the shifter linkage is still hooked up and working first.

I believe your '04 is a cable shifter. It's possible it's come loose or broken.

it was still connected somehow it was stretched because it's really loose thanks for helping
