I just bought a 2004 Grand Cherokee Limited, the A/C doesn't cool the cabin. Not only does it not feel very cold, but it does not push much air when it is on high. I tried to fill the freon, but it doesn't hold it. Furthermore, after I had tried to fill it, parts of the inside of the cabin had an oily residue on it, whilst I was driving it, I then saw the vents spit out "smoke" that wasn't "smoke". the darn thing is leaking the freon in to the air vents! How do I fix it?? It's friggin HOT outside!! lol. Please help me...

that's what I was worried about... I have an innate fear of removing dashboards.. ever done one? Also, would this explain a lack of air-flow?

Removing the dash is a big job to some people. Depends on your experience/skill level/patience. The air flow could be a blend door problem, a vacuum issue, or a bad blower motor, or the motor resistor.

I spun wrenches on Abrams tanks for four years, still scared of a dash job, ironic, I know. For the airflow problem, when the front vents are selected, the two vents by the glove box don't have any air to come out of them. I am going to try all positions and see if there is one that works better, or if all of them are strange, or if it doesn't even change. I will post more.

im leaning towards the motor resistor, maybe the motor on the airflow problem, when you adjust the fan speed with the dial, you can barely hear the fan at all when it is turned down below medium range, and it doesn't put any air through at that point. It is almost silent.
