'02 GC no start Help!

'02 GC no start Help!
I've had an ongoing problem with my GC not starting.
Starts fine cold, but if I drive more than 10 miles, stop. and try to re-start it, I get nothing. The dash lights up like a Christmas tree, but no click, turn over...nothing.
Sometimes it'll start if I move it back and forth from N to D and back.
I just took it to a mechanic this morning. He put in a starter relay switch, and thought it was fixed, but nooooo....
Now, he wants to put in a transmission range sensor??
This has been going on for 2 years now, and getting kinda old.
