Hello all, we just purchased a 2001 wj. I was able to drive it home but she runs rough. We knew it had a blown head gasket at the start but I got it home and checked the oil. Someone had over filled the motor about a quart.
the blown head gasket plus oil overload doesn’t sound like it will be a good combination. When I change the oil and head gasket, what should I inspect while I have the top disassembled? Should I tear down the valve cover and check rods? If a rod is bent should I replace them all? How screwed am I?

Old fart with a wrench
When you drain the oil, you may find that added quart is coolant.

What Dave said. Don't borrow trouble. You know you have to pull the head - start there.
