She has 300k on her. I have an oil leak, not the valve cover, that has been replaced and it is not damp by the valve cover. It is damp on the passenger side of the block, under the head. I am also burning a bit of anti freeze. The plugs are white with a bunch of corrosion on the threads. I am confident it is the head gasket. My question is, has anyone ever had a head gasket that leaks oil out? My past experinces are anti freeze in the oil and burning coolant. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
I need to check the oil. I did a change on it a couple weeks ago and did'nt notice anything. I just did the adapter o rings when I changed the oil, so it's not that. It is damp from the head down. I'll go inspect the oil right now.

I have this issue as well. 99 Cherokee 4.0 148k.
I recently degreased the engine and replaced the valve cover gasket and a bunch of fluid maintenance. Its a small amount of looks like oil perhaps between cylinder 3 & 4. I keep wiping it off and after 50 miles or so its damp below the head about an inch long. The ol gal runs great otherwise. No coolant in the oil either. This may be a separate issue, but I do see oil swirls in the rad expansion tank. I did, however remove the expansion tank and cleaned it really good so maybe the was a little cleaner residue.
Is my head gasket about ready to give up the ghost? It has the 0630 head.

Are all of the plugs white? If so you may be running lean. Do a compression test. Two adjacent cylinders with low pressure could be a possible bad head gasket.Originally Posted by otpracer

Rats. It is my head gasket. I found coolant in my oil. It was the yellowish milky crude under my oil cap. Poked a finger under the valve cover and dragged out a little green. Funny how I haven't noticed a performance problem. I was hoping the crude under the cap ws just condensation. Its got no other coolant leaks and has been using a small amount in which I assumed it was purging air out after my two cooling system flushed. Shucks, I haven't even put 1000 miles on her since I bought her
I drove it home from work extremely gently...about 20 miles and immediatly draind the oil and put fresh oil in and ran it for about 3 minutes and shut her down.
