I've had a similar problem with mine but was able to resolve it. With the jeep on the ground, I had someone push the front tire forward with their feet while I aligned the bolt in the LCA. Pushing the tire forward pulled the axle forward enough for me to get the bolt in. Another thing I have seen is the ratchet strap around the axle hooked to something solid...Like a hitch of another vehicle and ratchet it forward a couple of inches. That's just what I have done in the past, hopefully you can get it resolved!

Thank for all the feedback guys. I finally got it when I got home from work this evening. I attached the shocks then used ratchet straps on each end of the axle to the front bumper. If those ratchet straps would have popped off it could have easily been a trip to the hospital. But I got the LCAs in!!

Anyway I connected everything back up, put the wheels on and dropped her down for measurements.
I am pretty happy to say that I got 3 inches of lift. So that is 1 inch from the ZJ coils which I did not expect.

slight descrepencies:
Front driver's side sits at 34" from the ground.
Front passenger side at 33 and 7/8s from the ground.

Axel shift:
Driver's side tire is 17" from the body
Passenger side tire is 17 and 1/4" from the body

The track bar is still disconnected and I will be installing the rock krawler soon.

Anyone know if the discrepancies in lift height listed above is being caused by something i did wrong or are minor differences like that normal?

I have had someone tell me it does matter which side the coil springs go on. That may be true for some vehicles but is it true for the XJ?

Quick update:
Installed the Rock Krawler tack bar on Saturday. Was an absolute pain in the side. The bolt for the axle connection does not come with a flag nut but instead a Nyloc nut. There is almost no way to fit a wrench into the small opening on the back of the tack bar axle bracket. I tried everything i had and finally i ending up jamming a flat head screw driver in there just to torque it down. Now the screw driver is stuck.

As for the jam nut and the track bar frame connection, those went just fine.

I haven't been able to post updates recently. Very busy with everything but i finally finished the lift last week.

When i ended up getting both packs on and setting it down things looked a little funny. Somehow got near 6 inches of lift from the bastard pack. Well beyond what i was expecting. I wish i would have taken a picture cause it looked hilarious. I then had to take out the leaf packs and ended up removing the flat helper leaf and the S-10 main leaf to get exactly 3.5 inches.

After getting the new wheels and tires on i carried all 5 of my old wheels/tires in the cargo area for about 100 miles. This settled the leaf pack in to a solid 3 inches. Now the front and rear are matched up evenly.

Finished XJcreature Special:
