I have been going back and forth on the perches a bit, and decided to talk to Tim from LII. So this is what he just sent me of his custom perches. I think this is going to work out much better, and looks trick as hell to boot.

Im still not 100% on them. I may still just run the standard ruffstuff perch. I dont want any more lift and these would add 1". so I would have to go to a shorter spring. Ill decide soon, and just order something.
I did however get the rest of the front axle apart. all I have to do is cut off all of the brackets, and then I can gear it, and roll it under to mock it up. I still need brakes and some other stuff, but I can get going anyway and button it up once its under there.

why because swapping axles makes it easier to link the rear? lol
That is a TON of work to do correctly and not have atrocious rear steer, and anti squat numbers. Not to mention the cost, and time.
I actually have no immediate plans to get rid of the leaves. They work well, and handle well. being I still drive it a lot, it makes things a lot easier. Down the road it will get linked, but it will also get back halfed when it does.

Did some cutting and fitting today. Got most of the brackets cut off and the drivers mount mocked up. Welder started acting up so I got pissed off and stopped.
I also welded the front carrier yesterday at work. Burned the side gears to the case with 3 passes at 200 amps. Then welded the spiders to the case. Then the spiders to eachother. Bad pic but you can get the idea

~4-4.5" is where it should end up, I have to figure out the rear still though. If I run a standard perch I can save height, as I dont really want to change springs again. Im trying to decide on how to relocate either the shackle, or the forward mount to get a better shackle angle without adding height. Im hoping to either move the top of the shackle or build a new front mount moved back, which would be ok, as the axle is going to be set back on the perch, i could just mount it back on center. That would get it to sit a little lower at the same time. Worst case I may try and trade leafs, but not many people have 2-2.5" leafs, which is what I would need.
Im going to be trading a friend my 4.5" springs for some 3.5" coils, which should make up the difference in the height of the bracket.
Oh and Im going to pick up another set of iroks, same size, but for a 17" rim. Just need to find a set of cheap H2 wheels and Ill have my rolling stock for now. they are pretty low but they fit the budget and it will get me rolling, and wheeling.

Started to cut the pass side mounts off and my grinder died. So I ran down to harbor freight and picked up a new one. I decided that it was too hot and I was too sick of cutting and grinding so I worked on my welder. I got it working pretty well again. I hope it stays this way.

Not too much of an update. But I did get the drivers mount all wended up. I ended up buying a new welder from northern tool, the price was great and its been working awesome so far. Im very happy with it.
I picked up my new tires. a decently used set of Iroks in a 17" flavor.

Just for fun

The matco guy came saturday with a present too. I can finally fit all my stuff now.

Oh, and I just ordered the rear perches/ubolts, front lower arm mounts, axle side upper link mount, all the heims and adapters and spacers for the links, I have all the DOM I think, to do the arms, and hopefully the track bar and steering, hydro assist parts are coming, and a reid 1310 yoke and ubolts for the rear. I still need one for the front, but it can wait. So this weekend the rear should have perches welded on and driveshaft installed and pretty much ready to go.
I have to install the new wheel seals, brakes, and run brake lines for the rear and thats done.
Gonna put the spindles and hubs on the front ind get it rolled under the Jeep this week to mock up arms when all the parts come. Once thats done I can take it out, final weld all the brackets and then do the gear install, and it can go back under for good. So there will be some good updates to come in the next week.
