not much to update, I took the ball joint D60 out and found my self a king pin D60, made up a new truss and got it installed, checked for binding during full flex. all good so time to get all my axle part to gear it and than start painting all the bear metal. also looks like I will be getting a stak replace a case with 4:1 gears. a buddy of mine will not be doing up his YJ so he has a stak for sale.
I was dead set on getting a stak until I found out that they're no longer really a company anymore. The phone number still works, but theres a few cases of people sending in their stak for a rebuild and just never being able to get in contact with them again and gave up on getting the case back. they aren't known to last forever (I assume your rig size could break some stak teeth) and parts will be near impossible to source
just something to think about before you go giving your buddy a bunch of dollars
I have followed your build thread for some time now, and have been inspired by your frame concept. Now I am just starting to do my own version of a frame based on this forum.
I will build a frame version below my XJ, thanks to you starting the idea in my head with your build.
Your build has inspired me enough to get crackin on my project. Here is where mine sits.

ahh dang really? that sucks, maybe best to go with an atlas after all

yeah but those suckers get pricy. I'm back to the drawing board honestly. stak really seemed like the best cost vs. value option out there
here's the thread with some info on stak http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/gener...se-thread.html
dookey mentioned going through him (twf distributor I believe) but they don't seem to deal with stak at all. Just the Hero cases which are the best option on the market ever but the price tags like 4k..
Give me a weekend to get a build thread started and up. I completely understand the hangup on removing all of the XJ subframe. There are a few parts of your build that have made me think that might of made it difficult.
When I start mine, I will show you my idea (based upon your build) that I plan on doing a little bit differently. But understand YOU got this ball rolling in my head to go ahead and do almost the same thing.
21 pages later. Awsome build i was hoping it would be finished by page 21 seem's you're almost in the home stretch. I've been wanting to do something similar to my 97 but didn't know were to start I hope you don't mind if i steal a couple of idea's. Good luck with the rest of the build and i can't wait to see it finished.

not at all the point of build threads is to share our ideas so that others can do the same or improve on someone else's ideas.
Very impressive work dude.. would love to be on your level with a shop like that one day. Hard work definitely pays off. I stumbled on this build via Facebook and read every word... had to go find my account and login to let you know that this is truly top notch work and I cannot wait to see this thing when it is finished. Subbed.
My 96 has been sitting now for a while and I have the floors completely cut out atm with all new waiting to go in, just so busy with my new construction company and engineering school it's not funny. It's just a puzzle waiting to be put back together and I keep thinking back to this thread. It wouldn't take much at all to get the uni body out right now. Just don't know if I could stomach the extra time. It's still on the table. I'm going to be taking a few weeks off, after I finish the house I'm currently working on, to get to the jeep in order. I guess I'll decide then.
