XJ 11inch lift Turbo? 350 swap?
#154
see what MOST folks dont take into consideration is geometry of the system, if your arms mount and have the same pivot location as your drive shaft then your FINE, most folks decide to use the OE leaf spring as a solution which is a good 10 inches back from where the drive shaft pivots thus giving less travel and a LOT less ride quality offroad

Hate to break it to you bud. But you don't know jack about suspension. Especially not as much as you think you do. All those vehicles you named run stock rear 4-link systems. NOT RADIUS ARMS. As far as I know, Chrysler hasn't made a radius arm setup stock on any of their offroaf vehicles...

Chime in all you want but SERIOUSLY... dont take anything from a guy running THAT track bar setup! "you are the weakest link, GOODBYE!"
Also Im not sure what the heck your talking about for the shock movement situation perhaps you didnt cut your fenders properly or something I NEVER had an issue with my shocks even coming within 4 inches of sheet metal and I run 8 inches of lift and 18 inches of travel.
this jeep is yet another fool and his money are soon parted situation.... if you DIDNT drop money into that paint job you MIGHT have had enough to do a simple axle swap and not worry about ANY of those issues!
I did a budget d60 axle swap and when I say BUDGET i mean BUUUUUUUDDDDDGGGGGEEEETTTTTT the FULL swap including driveshafts brackets gears the WHOLE axle assemblies tires wheels spacers adapters new shocks front and all other fabrication was done on my jeep for under 2k, granted I was VERY patient when it came to things like gears and wheels and tires I had to wait for a craigslist deal on those items which are the higher dollar items but the rest I bought from either Currie or Ballistic fabrication.
heres mine the day I finished it
and some usability pics
those are 37 inch boggers H2 Wheels about 7.5 to 8 inches of lift, all brackets came from either ballistic fab or currie all joints were from currie and are either johnny joints or heims
My steering was UNDER 100$ and guidance from a good offroader/fabricator and thus far shes held up perfectly
so honestly Im not listening to ANYTHING bohemeth has to say as far as lift and steering... but I WILL take notes on a paint scheme!

Mine is offroad only and yeah I know radius arms are not what chrysler put OE but they have kits readily available for those jeeps and they ALL flex very nicely, I have radius arms up from and they havent let me down yet! Ive wheeled them for about three years now and not one single problem with them!

thanks for your input its much apreciated. I decided im gonna run my stock axles till the blow up haha as soon as they blow up it will be a perfect oportunity to do an axle swap. about the steering set up did you get a kit or cut the tubeing your self and all that. i really wish that i didnt have to leave my build at where it is right now. but deployment called so thats where i gotta be. soon as i get back i will be dumpin some serious cash and time into it.

and yeah I ran stock dana 30 and 35 for years and NEVER broke a shaft or anything but a couple of my friends did and it ruined their whole weekend of wheelin, that is whay I opted to upgrade the axles, for me to go wheelin I have to take a day off so thats missed pay THEN I gotta fuel up the towrig for a 300 miles trip up to north texas then its camping so I need three days of food stocked up soooooo the average trip costs me nearly 300$ thats why I didnt wanna blow 300$ and break a axle shaft in the first hour of wheelin saturday morning, and as for blocks way back in the thread... I ran some cheapo blocks from autozone for two years of pretty decent wheelin and never ONCE had an issue with them... blocks will get you by for a while and really the only drawback to em is SOMETIMES they will break and they dont offer as much travel as a new leaf pack would offer you, when I built my bastard pack I opted for dodge dakota spring to give a tad more payload and thus far they did great so I will be selling those off on craigslist when I decide what im doing with the rear suspension

yes on another website... lots of trial and a little error but mostly success!
you can see by the dates that it took a LONG time and LOTS of frustration
and I had to take a 3 month break from it to rebuild a motor on my durango.
